After nearly 20 years at YRMC, this week, Senior VP and Chief Information Officer (CIO) Fred Peet will retire, leaving behind a long list of accomplishments and Information Technology advancements to our organization. While his list of contributions are extensive, Fred notes his favorite IT project over the years was the implementation of our Electronic Health Record system, a multi-year, major project that has greatly impacted both our staff and patients. When asked about YRMC, Fred had this to say, "Thank you, YRMC and Dr. Trenschel, for trusting in me to lead the IT Division for the past 10 years. I am beyond grateful."Fred, we are thankful for you and your contributions to our organization and community! We wish you a happy retirement!

Ten years ago today, the Yuma Regional Cancer Center was unveiled to the community. Not only did we open the doors to a new, state-of-the-art cancer facility, but we marked the beginning of comprehensive cancer care for our community members – the kind of care they deserve. YRMC has demonstrated its commitment to top-notch cancer care by implementing many innovative advancements. We acknowledge, however, that our success belongs to our entire community. Without partnerships with medical professionals, community organizations, patients and families, these successes would not be possible. With plenty more to come, we look back with pride on our significant milestones and their positive impact on our friends and neighbors.

We'd like to inform the community that patient care has not been affected by the recent global IT outage. Our hospital and clinics are open and continue serving our patients. MyCare, our electronic health records system, is functioning as normal. While we have seen minor impact to a small number of cloud based administrative and dictation systems, operations have continued without interruption.

Given the ongoing excessive heat warning in the Yuma community, there is a heightened risk of contact burns from hot surfaces. Dr. Casey Noroyan from the YRMC Emergency Department has advised the community to exercise increased caution when outdoors during peak heat hours to prevent such heat-related injuries. It is crucial to wear appropriate footwear when walking outside to prevent burns on the soles of your feet. For more information on how to handle severe heat burns, please visit the link below.https://lnkd.in/gFZM_gAu
