Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (2024)

Stranger Missions

Throughout the world you will come across a white question mark, these are stranger missions. Almost all stranger missions are available for the rest of the game after they’ve been unlocked. However, I would recommend doing them as soon as they appear just so you have less to do at the end.

You need to complete any 10 stranger missions to unlock the following:

You completed 10 Stranger mission strands.

Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (2)

1 guideGuide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (3)Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (4)

Most stranger missions appear on a set chapter and are then available for the rest of the game. Some missions, however, are unavailable after chapter 6. I will point these out as they appear. So remember, these missions aren't exclusive to the chapter heading they are listed under! They are listed under the heading of which chapter they will first appear. Some missions can be triggered from a certain chapter, but parts later in the mission might require you to complete tasks in later chapters.

A LOT of stranger missions are also collectables - I would prioritise these missions over the other stranger missions as you'd be hitting 2 birds with one stone; Collectables and stranger missions! You will see these missions in the collectables page too.

Here are the stranger missions;

Chapter 1

  • The Noblest of Men, and a Woman (Valentine)

This stranger mission will have you challenge notorious gunslingers who own unique guns. These guns can not be found in any other location, so make sure to pick up the gunslingers weapons after they're killed - this will help complete your weapons collection.

Start this mission by heading to Valentine, and enter the eastern-most bar, where you will find Theodore Levin who is writing a book on legendary gunslingers, one of which is Jim Boy Callaway (sat next to Theodore)... The issue is that Jim is too drunk to give information to the author. This is where you step in, we need to gather information on the old gunslingers who have resorted to living different lives than before.

You will be given a photograph of each gunslinger, open your satchel Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (5) and look at each photograph - read the back of the photo to add their locations to your map.

Head to the above locations, and you will find each gunslinger living their new lives. Once you complete each location, you must wait until you finish Chapter 4 -"A Fine Night of Debauchery".

After that mission, head to Valentine to ask the bartender where Jim is - he will tell you to head to Saint Denis. Head to this mission icon in Saint-Denis, you will then be directed to Annesburg Sheriff's office. Once here, you will be given the location of Grant, head here. You will find Grant and will eventually be challenged to the last dual of this mission - kill Grant to complete this Stranger mission.

  • All That Glitters (West of Flatneck Station)

Simply head over west of Flatneck station and north of the railroad;

This stranger will give you the map for $10, or you can rob him. I suggesting paying for it as we are aiming to have a high honour.

The first location is Caliban's Seat, located south of valentine - It's noticeable from 2 large peaks that are fairly obvious to spot when you're heading to the location -

When you arrive you will notice that Caliban's Seat is one large peak. Head south of this peak, opposite where we are in the image above. From here, walk up the peak until you reach the grassy area on top. Once on top, walk forward and head right, there will be a steady slope that hugs the side of the peak which you can walk across. This slope carries all the way along the park - but be careful of 2 gaps which you'll have to jump across. When you reach the end of this slope, there will be a hole in the side of the rocks. Search this hole to find the 2nd map.

The second location is Cotorra Spring, which is north of Fort Wallace.

Head to this location and you will find a few rocks scattered around. Find this rock, identifiable by it's flat top and it's closest to the geysers of the north-east.

Search beneath this rock formation for the 3rd map . . .

This location is the easiest to get to in my opinion, my only suggestion is to have maximum stamina!

Head to O'Creagh's Run which is north-east of the map. You need to get to the small island in the middle of this lake, identifiable by the large tree on it.

Once you've reached the island, search for an open green patch of land on the south-east side of the island. Here you can find a small rock, search beneath it to uncover 2 gold bars that you can sell at the fence!

This will complete this challenge.

  • The Smell of the Grease Paint (Van Horn Trading Post)

This Stranger Mission starts in the Saloon of Van Horn Trading Post. In this saloon, you will encounter some circus acts. . .

After a short cut-scene, you will fight one of the acts, beat him enough for him to eventually apologise for his behaviour.

The circus act manager says that she's missing one of the acts, Magnifico. His location has been marked on your map and isn't too far away

-let's go catch him!

Magnifico has some magical powers, none of them are threatening, but they are annoying. You will have to chase him, by following his colourful smoke. This will lead to a circle where you have to investigate the area to try and find him. Walk around the area until he poofs or you catch him (you won't). After running over some train tracks he will run into the arms of the side-show manager.

After thanking you, the stranger mission will be complete. (There is another encounter where you can watch their act at the Théâtre Râleur in Saint Denis - talk to the vendor after watching the act and you will recieve $40!

  • Arcadia for Amateurs (South-east of Strawberry)

For this mission, you will find Albert Mason, a photographer and risk-taker. He will ask you to pose for a photo, which you will happily do. . .

As you're posing, a coyote will steal his bag - you will be asked to chase the coyote down. After a short run, he will drop the bag, and you can return it to Albert.

(Sleep for a day or two)

The second part of this mission takes place north-west of Wallace Station. Albert wants to take a picture of some wolves and has hung a piece of meat to lure them closer to us. The wolves will quickly become more attracted to you and Albert - you have to fight off the wave of wolves (there are 5). Aurther will give Albert an initial warning about the dangers of toying with predators

(Sleep for a day or two)

The third part takes place slightly north of Emerald Ranch. This part is less dangerous. Albert needs to take a picture of horses, but is having trouble getting them close enough to him. You need to grab one of the horses and let Albert take photos as you guide the horses toward him.

(Sleep for a day or two)

The fourth part of this mission strand takes place on the east shoreline of Lagras. Albert is back in his old-habits by toying with crocodiles. You've been tasked with rowing the boat to the three locations he wants to take pictures at. Whilst this is a dangerous setting, Albert still hasn't faced any consequence for his dangerous antics.

(Sleep for a day or two)

The final encounter with Arthur is south-east of Valentine, on a very high cliff edge. Albert is trying to take photos of eagles. He will slip off when getting too close to the edge but is luckily hanging on - pull him up, and he will realise the dangers of his behaviours, completing this mission strand.

  • Fundraiser - UNAVAILABLE AFTER CHAPTER 6 - (Saint Denis)

For this easy mission, there will be a woman located North-West part of Saint-Denis. She is sat in the corner of the north-west area and is collecting donations.

Simply donate £20 and you will complete this mission. You're able to loot her collections box, though this can severely effect your honor level - so don't do it.

  • American Dreams - Triggered by finding 3 map pieces

This is quite a strange questline and will have you find the murderer of 3 bloody scenes. Head to the following 3 locations and find 3 parts of the map

1. The first location I found was south-east of valentine. Follow the traintacks until the overhang a gap between 2 peaks on a hill. This scene is quite obiously a murder scene with body parts scattered around. You will find part 1 of a map pinned against one of the legs holding the train tracks up.

2. The second location I found was just east of Braithwaite manor. There is a large tree within a darker area of trees, which has some more body parts. You can find the map on one of the body parts led against the trunk of the tree.

3. This third location is, again, gruesome. When you get here you will see a body hung from a large rock with the words "Do you see?" written in white paint. To the left of this is a smaller rock with a head on it. This is where the map is.

After piecing the map together, head to the above location as you will uncover the murderer's locations. After quite a frightful introduction you can capture the murderer and bring him to the nearest jail - doing so will complete this mission.

  • Geology for Beginners [Unlocks 'Rock Carvings' collectables] - (North-west of Strawberry)

Start this mission by heading to a small cabin north-west of strawberry, here you will meet Francis Sinclair

Around the map, there are rock-carvings of strange images (there’s 10 of them). Arthur can sketch these strange images, and after sketching all 10 can send them to Francis.

Rock 1

This rock can be found at Owanjila Lake. You will see this carving when walking along the nearby road-west, and then following the shore on the south-west side

Rock 3

Head to Mount Hagen by following the path on the map leading to its peak. Right before the path ends, look to your right and there will be a rock formation - the carving is here.

Rock 4

Head over to the road near Whityard Straight until you come across a wooden bridge, head north-west of the bridge and you will see the carving on the rocky peaks above you.

Rock 5

Make your way to the north-west peak of Cumberland Forest, facing the Dakota River. Look down toward a bridge, and underneath it will be a small ledge. Head here and you can get to the cliff face where the rock carving is.

Rock 6

Head over to the peak overlooking the Dakota River near Bacchus station, to the north you will see a lower ledge, head along here to and you will see the carving near the end of the ledge

Rock 7

Head south from Moonstone Pond and make your way towards the heartland overflow until you reach a plateau, overlooking the heartland overflow, to the east, is a rock carving which is slightly hidden.

Rock 8

Go over to the Eastern side of the Elysian Pool, and there you will be able to find this rock carving next to the path on a rock wall - this one is pretty high up

Rock 9

Make your way over to near to the top of Roanoke Ridge at the top of the map, when you reach Deer Cottage you will manage to see it directly East. Just head up towards it

Rock 10

South of Valentine, towards Limpany, look for a slight ridge on a hill to the south of the burned settlement and you will be able to see this rock carving on a hill to the side.

Some can be slightly tricky to spot, here's a video is you need more visual help.

Chapter 2

  • A Fine Night For It - Triggered by a random encounter in the Bayou at night

This is quite a strange mission line due to its starting location. You must have a strange encounter within the Bayou between the hours or 10pm and 5am.

A strange encounter can be voices, whispers or lights and shadows. You will know that it's a strange encounter as a grey dot will appear on your map - when it does, go investigate the situation.

After your encounter, you will have a stranger mission on your map -

Head to the location and you will meet a man that will tell you stories of the Night folk - specifically how they're disturbing his home life. Accept to help him out by clearing out the night folk at his nearby home (he will guide you there).

Once there, clear out the night folk and wait for a couple of waves of them. Simply shoot their heads and don't let them get too close!

Once clear, head back inside for your reward- only to be under another wave of Night folk - clear these out and claim the reward when the coast is clear.

Chapter 3

  • He's British, of Course - (South of Emerald Ranch)

Arthur can find a crashed caravan with an animal wrestler inside, call Margaret. This act has lost the animals needed for their performance and has asked you to find a Zebra, Lion and Tiger

The zebra can be found just north-west of your current location, study it by using your binoculars from a-far. You'll quickly uncover that it's just a mule that's been painted like a zebra... Lasso the mule and lead him back.

After speaking to Margaret you will be advised to follow the lion's tracks . . . this will lead you to a Labrador with a main (Lion). Bring the Labrador into the nearby wagon, and the tiger (cougar) will soon follow after hearing the commotion.

Here you will be asked to find a lost lion. You will head over to a nearby barn, where some farmers are locking up. Arthur will ask to search for the lost creature - which might be inside?

After searching the barn, you will hear some noise coming from the top of the barn - seems like whatever creature was in here is now outside.

Once you are back outside, we will see a bloody corpse on the ground, followed by a dead horse not too far away. Head to the nearby stables where you will find an actual lion! Use your dead-eye quickly as the lion will immediately be coming for you - a few rounds should be enough to take it down.

Take the lion paw as your reward for finding this unique animal! (you can use this to make a trinket - a very unique item that counts towards your discovered equipment total)

Head back to Margaret where Arthur will complain about both his lack-of payment and his near-death experience with a real lion.

You will be given a gem worth $250.

  • The Iniquities of History (Rhodes)

This mission begins in Rhodes, where you can find a man sitting outside of Rhodes train station - Jeremiah Compson. He will tell you that his property and possessions have been seized by the court and granted to the Bank.

He asks us to break into his home and retrieve 3 things; A Revolver, a ledger and a valuable pocket watch.

You can enter the house from the south-side. You can find a watch in the first big room, near the chimney. There is also a photo on the other chimney, which reveals a trap door when you interact with it - This will also introduce 2 men threatening us. Kill them quickly - I advice using dead eye quick draw.

After this, head to the basem*nt to find the ledger. This ledger describes Jeremiah's involvement with slavery - a quick way for us to lose all sympathy with him.

Head to him and confront him about his beliefs and past with slavery - you will then throw the book in the nearby camp fire. If you kill Jeremiah you will also increase your honor!

  • No Good Deed ( Rhodes )

For this mission, you will find Dr Alphonse Renaud in-front of the churchyard in Rhodes. He tells us about his supplies being stolen, and we agree to help!

Go to the marked location, just north-east towards the river.

Once here, there are 6 enemies in total. It's possible to sneak up and kill them all - but I chose to rifle'em down when they were all closer together.

Get on the wagon and quickly make your move. You will be chased by enemies on horses so they can quickly get to you - watch your driving and your accuracy.

Get to the Doctor, with the good still in-tact to complete the mission.

Chapter 4

  • Oh, Brother ( Valentine )

This is quite a fun story line and shouldn't prove difficult at all (Most of your time will be messing around with the tasks that the brothers set for you)

You can meet Proetus & Acrisius infront of the general store in Valentine, fighting for their love over Helen.

They ask for you to join in proving which man is the manliest - by shooting things off their heads.

(Sleep for a few days)

We can meet the trio in the same location, having a similar debate about who is more manly. They ask for you to now join them in being the kicker of balls.

After hitting the guys, it's time to let them go once again.

(Sleep for a few days)

Later, we find our trio at a nearby waterfall where they have challenged each other to take a dive, whilst in a closed barrel.

Head to this location and kick them off the edge! Helen will become worried about the guys actually hurting themselves - get on your horse and chase down the surfing-barrels.

Once the 2 idiots are on shore, they realise their worth and their relationship with one another. This concludes their attempt to gain Helen's love, and also concludes our mission storyline.

  • The Ties That Bind Us ( Rhodes )

This mission has been reported as glitched! It can glitch at the start of the mission, and I advise that you create a new save and reload if the story doesn't progress after your first encounter!

Arthur can spot 2 men fighting on a hill, next to train tracks (just south of Rhodes, on the west side of the tracks, next to some dark trees)

These guys have obviously just escaped a prison-carriage! They are wanted and you need to search Saint-Denis for 5 posters of the two men.

  1. The first poster is on a bulletin board in the post office
  2. The second poster is on a lantern to the right of the gunsmith, often has a man leaning on it.
  3. The third is on the sheriff's board, to the left of the sheriffs building.
  4. The fourth is at the end of the road, on a pole infront of a line of white fences.
  5. The fifth poster is on a telegraph pole just to the left of the saloon, not far from number 4, next to a big tree.

If you lasso both men and bring them to the sheriff's office, the quest-line will end here.

If you choose not to turn them in, you will meet them at a later date just north of Rhodes - they need medicine.

You can find them finally at the northern part of Big Valley, where they've escaped to live in the trees.

This mission is great, it's funny and different - it also rewards us with an achievement so let's make sure we get it done!!

Head over to the small pond area, within the park in the west part of Saint Denis.

Here we will find Marko Dragic who is an inventor of technology! He wants to demonstrate his new, remote-controlled boat! We can help him by demonstrating the use of the boat through the remote, to a group of spectators.

The controls for the boat are at the bottom left of the screen, so navigating the pond shouldn't be an issue. Make sure to be aiming most of the time Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (49) and take down on-coming submarines! Manoeuvre around some mines, and tackles some more submarines. The spectators are amazed, and Marko is happy.

(sleep for a few days.)

After sleeping a while, we can visit Marko at his lab which is in the north-east part of the map MAKE SURE TO COME HERE AT NIGHT

Go to the lab and you will be called out by the microphone-yielding Marko! He will ask for you to help him find 3 spots for conductors. Holding the detector he gives you, use it to find the perfect spot by scanning the area with Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (51). Once you hit all 3 spots, head back to Marko for his (not so) big reveal!

Before the reveal, however, he asks for us to climb the nearby tower and flip some switches. Head to the rear-side of the lab and climb the metal tower which is blowing in the heavy winds. All 3 switches need to be flipped downward.

Head back to the lab for a cutscene.

(sleep for a few days)

A few days later we can head back to Markos nearby-building to see how he's getting on . . . Once there we can find a white gun symbol on the map, go here to pick up and electric lantern (how impressive for us). Pick up the lantern and head into the lab . . . This is where you will complete the mission line and gain your achievement!

  • The Mercies of Knowledge (Saint-Denis)

This mission can be found in the north-east of Saint Denis, in Chapter 4 (You must have finished the 'The Joys of Civilization' mission first)

Arthur can find this strange professor in the outskirts of Saint-Denis, in the north-east. He asks us to get him a LOT of moonshine - who could refuse???

Travel to Alden, who we've met in the Train Station of Rhodes, and he will give us a clue for a big moonshine delivery.

This clue leads to us knowing that there will be a transport of this moonshine into Saint-Denis from the North. You must get to the transport before it reaches the city - so jump on your horse and quickly get to it! Once you arrive, simply use dead-eye to get rid of the guards (there's just a couple). Now drive it south, back to the professor.

The professor will reveal that he is building an electric chair! We need to go to the local police station and get a permit from the chief.

Once we get the police permit, we can head back to the professor and he will tell us he has a victim in mind; Wilson McDaniels - The professor will hand over a wanted poster of him.

We can find McDaniels north of the Heartland Overflow, which is north-west of Emerald Ranch:

Take out the surrounding enemies, and you will notice that McDaniels will try to escape . . . lasso him, hogtie him then bring him back to the professor.

You will be invited to watch the execution, found in the north part of Saint Denis - nearby the graveyard. Watch the final cut-scene to complete this quest-line.

Orchids are plants which can be found on the ground or on trees, I will be pointing out their exact location on the map

Plumes are birds and are a bit unpredictable and are different depending on the type of plume and its location.

For the first request, you've been asked to pluck/skin 3 different egret plumes (birds).

  • 5 x Snowy Egret Plumes
  • 5 x Little Egret Plumes
  • 5 x Reddish Egret Plumes

All of the above Plumes can be found in the following location:

It will take about an hour in this one spot to farm all of the needed birds. To re-spawn animals, simply save your game, set up your camp and sleep, then reload your save and you will be in a newly generated world.

The last request is;

15 x Lady of the Night Orchids: These grow on here;

Head to the marked locations, and look on the marked tree for the orchid. The items won't be found anywhere else.

Exotic Request 2

Quite similarly to the first request, you've been asked for 20x Heron Plumes - which can be found in the same/nearby locations as the first plumes

20 x Heron Plumes

7 x Lady Slipper Orchids - these grow in set positions in the west part of the map found here:

10 x Moccasin Flower Orchids - these grow in set positions found here:

Exotic Request 3

25 x Gator Eggs - Quite a strange request, but very easy to find. There is no 'set' location for these, however, they can be found within the marked range below (particularly in the swamp-based areas near-water) These are identifiable by their small-hill shaped mound of mud, with 2 or 3 eggs on top.

3 x Acuna’s Star Orchids - these grow in set positions here;

7 x Cigar Orchids - these grow in set positions located here:

5 x Ghost Orchids - these grow in set positions located here:

Exotic Request 4

30 x Spoonbill Plumes - These plumes can be found at noon in this set locations (it's a small area so make sure to use the respawn method I mentioned earlier for this area)

5 x Night Scented Orchids - these can be found in set locations here;

10 x Rat Tail Orchids - these can be found in set locations here;

5 x Spider’s Orchids - these can be found in set locations here;

Exotic Request 5

All of these are orchids, so they're in fixed positions

5 x Clamshell Orchids

5 x Dragon’s Mouth Orchids

5 x Queen’s Orchids

10 x Sparrow’s Egg Orchids

  • Idealism and Pragmatism for Beginners - (Saint Denis)

To start this mission you must have completed 'The Gilded Cage' (early Chapter 4) and received Lemieux’ letter

To start this mission, look out for a message in the top left corner that says "You have unopened mail or parcels . . . "

Once you get this, head to any Post Office and check your mail - eventually you will collect a letter by Lemieux and you can meet him in his residence at night-time.

You will find Lemieux in the north-west of Saint-Denis :

Go to this location and talk with Lemieux, who needs us to change someone opinion about the authenticity of some pictures~

Get in the carriage with Jean-Marc, and he will tell us about what we need to know as we travel. We learn that the professor will be at the Art Gallery in Town and once he leaves we can follow him to a more private area with no witnesses-

Perform this task, then return to Lemieux.

After a few days, we receive a second invitation via a letter. Meet up with the Mayor at night-time. Here he wants us to help raise funds for a library - by persuading a wealthy man to 'lend' some money . . .

Ride to the north edge of the town and jump on the coach, and have a 'chat' with the victim that will make him change his mind. Head back to Lemieux.

Lemieux will now be happy but is suspicious of Jean-Marc and his opposing views of the mayor and his decisions. We need to confront him at his address.

Head to the location and you will find that our approach is slightly different to whats planned - Arthur will knock out Jean-Marc. Head back to the Mayor with Jean-Marc, but be mindful of the Lawmen throughout the area (check your mini map when moving)

After a brief cutscene we're left with a choice; To kill or not kill Jean-Marc. Choosing to kill him will reward us with 10% off all shops in Saint-Denis, but will lower our honor. Sparing his life will boost our honor. I chose to spare Jean-Marc if you need honour still then spare him - otherwise it's entirely up to you!

Chapter 5

  • The Wisdom of the Elders - (West of Van Horn Trading Post)

This mission becomes available after finishing 'Fleeting Joy'

Below the train tracks west of Van Horn, you can find a man mumbling to himself on the floor who needs help.

He keeps repeating his village name - probably best if we go and take him there! Once you get to the village you will find a man who is happy about his friends return -

You will be attacked by the mumbling man. It's a fairly easy fight to win, you don't need to counter much, simply hit him with multiple strikes and you can knock him down.

A few days later, at night, you visit the village and find the village elder, Obediah Hinton, who mumbles about some demons.

You will now have a short encounter will some rabid dogs - using dead eye is the best way to kill them. You will also find dogs attacking the pigs nearby, three next to the bridge attacking a villager, two on the bridge attacking his brother and lastly 4 dogs as you're leading the villagers back to the house.

Once at the house, a short cutscene will play where a Shaman will tell us that he's been warning the villagers about this dark curse. He shows us a Charm and tells us that destroying them will lift the curse.

You are now challenged with destroying the 13 Charms - they're found south of the village in trees next to the river. 6 are north of the river, 2 within the river and 5 south of the river. You can use your mini map here as it will show a small red blip when one is nearby. (You can also use eagle eye to help find them)

Once destroyed, head back to the village to talk to Obediah and the Shamam. This worries the Shamam, as he now says this could make things worse - Arthur will threaten him after becoming tired of his BS. The Shamam will run off after being threatened, and Obediah will tell us that the Shamam once said to never go to the mines north of the village (Which is where we're going now).

Head to the mine marked on your map, it isn't that far away. You can remove the wooden planks which block the entrance and head straight in. You will hear some coughing, and see that the water has been poisoned (probably an explanation as to why the villagers are acting so weird). Arthur will fill a bottle with this water and will chase after someone he just saw escaping. The entrance will now explode and we have to take another route out. Taking the other path, that didn't explode, we need to quickly run out of the caves as our health is slowly degenerating from the poison in the air.

Once at the end of the cave, mount your horse and head back to the village. Shamam is there again and is getting the villagers to sign a contract. It turns out the Shamam is there on behalf of a Fuel company and is tricking the villagers into absolving them of any liability on the 'poised' water. Arthur will make the fuel worker admit to what he's done, by forcing him to drink the water. Our mission is now complete and we can pick up $50 and a letter/contract from the table.

  • The Widow of Willard's Rest Unavailable after Chapter 6 - (North-east of the map)

In Chapter 5 and 6 we can find a woman, north of Annesburg, sitting at her husbands grave. Talking to her will offer the lady a ride to town, but she declines - however she does agree to Arthur's invitation to show her how to hunt.

Follow the mission objective and head to the marked area on the map. Here we show Charlotte how to track and skin a rabbit - you can use eagle eye to help her find a rabbit. Shoot the rabbit and let her skin it.

On the way back home you will be attacked by two wolves - use dead-eye to headshot them both, and get Charlotte back home. She invites us to check on her in future.

After a few days, we can visit her again, and we can hear here truing to use a rifle. We can help her practice, as well as solving her pest-problem by shooting a rat that as bothered her for days. We're invited inside to share a meal with Charlotte. After some dramatic cutscenes we eventually wake up with a letter next to us, that invites us to take money from the nightstand.

After another few days, we can visit Charlotte for the last time. Here, she will kindly thank us for our help and will invite us to take anything we might need from her house as she won't be needing it. This is the last we see of her.

Chapter 6

  • The Veteran (O' Creagh's Run, North of Emerald Ranch)

This mission becomes available after completing Chapter 5. The stranger can be found near the lake O'Creagh's Run

This stranger is Hamish Sinclair, a veteran who wants us to look for his horse. His horse is at the lake nearby. Approach it and calm it by using Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (79). Once it's calmed you can pat it with Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (80) and eventually lead him back to Hamish with Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (81). Hamish is thankful and invites us to join him fishing sometime.

A day after we can find Hamish at his homestead on the north-east short of the same lake. He wants to catch the Tyrant, so equip the correct lure that he gave us which is the Special Lake Lure. Hamish will soon become overpowered, and be pulled in. We need to go pick him. After Hamish loses his pole, we need to try and catch the legendary fish. Use the same approach to catching a legendary fish as you would a normal fish, use the correct bait, throw the line and slowly reel in. Once you feel a slight pull on the line, pull Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (82) when the hooked fish isn't moving and circle Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (83) to reel it in. Eventually, you will catch the beast, and head back to the cabin with Hamish.

After another day we can return to Hamish's cabin and he will invite us hunting. There is a large female wolf nearby that he spotted and we need to investigate the carcasses in the area. We will soon spot the wold coming out of the woods from the bottom of the hill. Use eagle eye to help track the wold and navigate through the bushes on foot. Keeping an eye on your mini map in the process. We will eventually come to a cliff with the wolf, use dead-eye to deal with it and prepare for more wolves; here is where your minimap is useful. Shoot what you can, and eventually, we'll be attacked by the large female wolf. Mash Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (84) to break free and use dead eye one last time to shoot the wolf in the head.

After one last day, we can find Hamish again, in his cabin. A huge boar has appeared on his property and he needs help sorting it out! Run after it until Hamish has caught up, then use eagle eye to track its path (don't bother shooting it as you follow it as it's near invincible at this point). You will split up to try and find the boar, you will head up a hill and find a carcass and will soon hear gunshots close-by. Mount your horse and ride to the location.

We will see Hamish is hurt, he wants you to take his horse as his final wish. Track down the boar, and hammer it with shots whilst in dead-eye. After it's dead, skin it and take a trophy from it as a trinket!

Now that's dealt with, we can take Hamish's horse, Buell, which gives us an honour boost (and a free horse!)

Epilogue I

  • The American Inferno, Burnt Out - (West of Blackwater)

This mission if available after finishing 'Home of the Gentry?'

You can find a man sat down, writing, on the hill overlooking West Elizabeth - This is Evelyn Miller

After talking he will invite you to visit him at his cabin at Tanner's Ranch.

After a day we can see the location marked on the map, this is where Miller is. After a short scene, we mount up and follow him, there is a deer caught in a trap along the way. Mash Guide for Red Dead Redemption 2 (86) to free it. We will soon reach the camp with hunters and Miller gets them annoyed and gets himself knocked out. They draw their guns, so use your dead eye to draw quickly and headshot them all.

After another day we can visit Miller again at his cabin. Put some food in front of his front door after he refuses to come out/let us in.

Another day passes. . . If we visit Miller he will refuse to come out again - so leave some food for him leave him.

The next time we check on him we won't get a response, we can only hear flies buzzing. Kick in the door to find him dead. His wish is to be burned, which is found in his writing that we read. Grab the watch from the desk, and light the curtains on the other side of the room on fire to end this mission.

That's all the stranger missions completed! If you've followed this page closely then you would've also completed a lot of collectable missions too!
