CITY COUNCIL BUDGET HEARING
Notice is hereby given that the City Manager to the Roanoke Rapids City Council submitted the proposed FY 2024-2025 (FY25) Budget during the May 13, 2024, Special Meeting and presented again during the May 21, 2024, Regular Meeting. A Public Hearing for the proposed budget will be held by the City Council during its Regular Meeting on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at 5:30 p.m., in the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall, 700 Jackson St., Roanoke Rapids, NC. Citizens may attend and are invited to offer written or oral comments. Changes in the revenue and expenditure estimates may occur prior to the public hearing. The City of Roanoke Rapids will provide reasonable accommodations for any disabled person(s) wishing to attend. To make this request, contact the City Clerk’s Office at least 3 days prior to the meeting by calling 252-533-2840.

LEVY OF TAXES: The proposed budget sets the new tax rate at 64.10 cents per $100 of valuation, which is 2 cents less than the previous fiscal year’s tax rate of 66.10 cents per $100. The proposed FY25 tax rate represents an increase of 6.24 cents (or 10.78%) above the revenue neutral rate of 57.86 cents per $100 based on the 2023 Revaluation by Halifax County.

Notice is hereby given that the Roanoke Rapids Planning Board will hold a public meeting Thursday, June 6th, 2024, at 5:30 p.m. at the Lloyd Andrews City Meeting Hall located at 700 Jackson Street to hear the following items and provide a recommendation to City Council:
- Consideration of Land Use Ordinance Amendments to permit “Multi-use Outdoor Recreation Facility” use in the Entertainment Overlay District.
Related information is available for public inspection in the Planning and Development office at the J. Reuben Daniel City Hall, 1040 Roanoke Avenue. Any persons, firms, organizations, or corporations interested in this matter are urged to attend the meeting.

CITY RECYCLING CONTAINER SITES
The City of Roanoke Rapidshas tworecycling container sites. One isat the Public Works facility located at 1313 Hinson Street and the other is located at the Aquatic Center at TJ Davis Recreation at 500 E. 6th Street. The public will have 24-hour access to these facilities for combined recyclable materials.
