Timelines

Applications are accepted on a rolling basis starting in September, and most decisions are made before April. To ensure a thorough review, and time to plan your LLM experience, we recommend applying early.

Who We're Looking For:

We welcome a diverse pool of applicants, particularly those from international backgrounds and experienced U.S. lawyers who can uniquely benefit from BC Law's advanced coursework.

Eligibility Criteria

To be considered, you must meet one of the following:

  • A degree from an American Bar Association-approved U.S. law school.
  • A full law degree from a non-U.S. university.
  • Admission to practice law in a non-U.S. jurisdiction.

English Language Proficiency

Proficiency in English is a must for academic success at BC Law. Unless you are a native English speaker or received your entire legal education in English, you'll need to provide evidence of language ability.

Accepted Tests:

TOEFL: Minimum score of 100 required.

IELTS: Minimum Overall Band Score of 7.0 required.

  • $75 application fee is required, unless waived, and can be paid by credit card when applying online

Tuition and Fees

The estimated total cost of living for the 2023–2024academic year is $92,451.This figure includes tuition, fees and books ($68,413), estimated living expenses ($23,988), and $50 ID card fee. It doesn’t include the expenses of travel between your home country and Boston.

Summer Program

Particularly relevant to our prospective LLM students is ourInsights: U.S. Legal System,a five-day online professional development program for international law students, legal educators, legal professionals, and undergraduates who are interested in the field of law.

Each day will offer a two-hour, live synchronous session via Zoom that will be interactive, and a two-hour, recorded asynchronous session that participants may attend at a time that is convenient. Live Q&A sessions with instructors will follow the recorded sessions.

The Insights program has welcomed participants from around the world, including Argentina, Brazil, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Kenya, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, the U.S., and Uzbekistan. The program is taught entirely in English and participants should have a level of proficiency that will allow them to understand and participate in the program.
